The Alberta Government requires the operator of any vehicle equipped with air brakes to have an air brake “Q” endorsement on his or her driver’s licence. This includes commercial vehicles, as well as recreational vehicles. This course provides the knowledge and skills necessary for a driver to operate air brake systems safely and to be able to identify faults in these systems. Students learn how the system works, how to use it properly, and what happens when it is not working properly.
In order to qualify to attend one of our courses you must have an Alberta valid driver’s license Class “5” or higher.
The following is included in the course fees:
- Air Brake Q Endorsement Manual Practical Training
- Minimum 12 hours of in-class instruction
- Two attempts of a Practical Test
- Receipt of Air Brake Endorsement Certificate once Practical Test results are successful.
After the student passes the practical training test, he has to appear in the knowledge test in a nearby registry.
Once these steps are completed, the “Q” endorsement will be applied to the student’s license.
