Students are evaluated continuously through instructor assessments after each session. Before completing the program, participants must pass the Class 1 road test. The Class 1 knowledge test may be taken at any point during the Core Learning phase.

Alberta is leading the way in Class 1 driver training and licensing with the new Class 1 Learning Pathway for commercial truck drivers. Effective April 1, 2025, the Class 1 Learning Pathway was replaced with the Class 1 Mandatory Entry Level Training (MELT) program.
